
Pantin (panto) – are the horns of the deer in a period of their annual growth. These horns are of tubular, not ossified structure and filled with blood vessels. They are covered by thin skin with short soft fur.
The deer – is the only family of mammals, which grow and throw down a massive body – the horns. In traditional eastern systems of healing (China, Korea), panto are widely used for support of energy and youth. They are very effective and widespread and in these aspects they are very close to ginseng. The most valuable panto are the panto of the Siberian Maral. The horns are the source of medical agent – Pantocrynum – and of many biologically active substances.
At the private farm, in Salba village, 610 km from Krasnoyarsk, there are more than 600 Noble deer (Marals). Each year they have to go through this unpleasant but necessary procedure and to throw down their horns.
